Install on Windows

SymTalk v1.3.47 — push-to-talk with local transcription. Hold Ctrl+Alt, speak, release, and the text goes straight into the active field.

Close SymTalk if it is open
Make sure no SymTalk instance is running before installing.

Run the MSI file
Double-click SymTalk-1.3.47-x64.msi and follow the wizard to completion.

Test the microphone
On the wizard microphone test screen, click Test microphone and confirm it works.

Finish and open SymTalk
Finish the wizard. SymTalk starts automatically and stays in the system tray.

If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning, click More info → Run anyway. The installer is safe.

Activate (if requested)
If the activation screen appears, go to http://symtalk.local:8765/activate and sign in with your account.

Test transcription
Open any app with a text field. Hold Ctrl+Alt, speak, release, and the text appears wherever the cursor is.

Silent install (admin)

For enterprise rollouts or terminal automation with administrator privileges.

Uninstall from terminal

You can also uninstall it from Settings → Installed apps in Windows.

Common issues
Error 1500: another installation is in progress
Wait for another installer or Windows Update to finish. If it persists, restart Windows and try again.
No transcription after install
Check the default microphone in Settings → Sound. Restart SymTalk after switching microphones.
Prompting for activation again
On a new Windows user profile or environment, authentication must be done again. Visit 127.0.0.1:8765/activate.
